Say GOODBYE to Ugly External Corners with These Pro Tips!

When it comes to wallpapering around a corner or external angle, it's important to take the right steps to ensure a professional-looking finish.

One common mistake people make is trying to apply the wallpaper in one go, which can lead to creases, air bubbles, and other unsightly issues.

To avoid these problems, it's recommended to cut the wallpaper into lengths that are slightly longer than the height of the wall. I allow 50mm at the top and 50mm at the bottom (a total of 4" waste).

When you reach the corner cut the wallpaper to a new size, make the width of the paper wide enough to allow a slight overlap around the corner, like I show in the video, wrap the strip onto the adjacent wall (the wrap around will only be a small amount but enough to go around the corner,.
When that 'part length' is on, use the remaining part of the length and re hang it, making sure that the good edge of the paper is still plumb, the cut edge is then positioned just onto the other length which you wrapped around the corner. This is explained better in the video.

Once you've smoothed out the wallpaper and eliminated any air bubbles or wrinkles, use a sharp utility knife to trim away the excess paper at the corner. This will give you a clean, precise edge that blends seamlessly into the next length of wallpaper.

It's also important to keep in mind that wallpaper can stretch and distort when it gets wet if it's a paste the back of the paper wallpaper, so it's a good idea to let each strip of wallpaper soak for a few minutes before applying it to the wall - always read the instructions with the to see what the soak times are. This will allow the paper to relax and prevent it from shrinking or warping once it's in place.

By following these tips and techniques, you can achieve a flawless finish when wallpapering around corners or external angles.
