Echoing and Handing Down the Faith

“Catechesis” means echoing the faith, handing down the faith. Rather than teaching Jesus as a subject, it is about helping a person to forge a relationship with Jesus, to fall in love with Him, through a community. Thus, a catechist journeys with people and helps them discover that Jesus is the answer to what they are searching for in life.

To support the faithful who serve in catechetical ministries, OFC develops the curriculum and guidelines for children’s catechesis including Liturgy of the Word with children, youth catechesis, special needs catechesis and Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). It also conducts several training courses to equip these catechists in their ministry as well as formation programmes to help them grow in their personal faith life.
