Dirac and Dirac Notation (Bra–Ket Notation):
Paul Dirac, a British physicist, developed a powerful and elegant mathematical language for quantum mechanics known as Dirac notation or bra–ket notation.
In this system:
1. A ket |ψ⟩ represents a quantum state (a vector in a complex Hilbert space).
2. A bra ⟨φ| represents the dual (complex conjugate transpose) of a quantum state.
3. The inner product ⟨φ|ψ⟩ gives a complex number that represents the probability amplitude between two states.
4. The outer product |ψ⟩⟨φ| forms an operator acting on states.
5. Dirac notation makes quantum mechanics concise and clear, simplifying expressions for measurements, superpositions, and operators.
