New Zealand Natives - FLOWERS Best and STAR Performers - Part 1 Flowers NZ

In this video, we’re taking a closer look at New Zealand’s native plants. We’ve visited the Auckland Botanic Gardens to explore their Native Ideas Garden, which highlights how these plants can be used in a modern landscape.

For this part, our focus is on flowering natives. You’ll see a mix of star performers—plants rated by the Auckland Botanic Gardens as strong, reliable growers in Auckland’s USDA Zone 10b conditions. Alongside these, I’ve also included some additional flowering natives that I believe are well worth mentioning for their beauty and garden value.

We’ll move through them in order—Trees, Shrubs, Groundcovers, Reeds and Grasses, Lilies, and finally, a couple of native flowering climbers.

This is Part 1, all about flowers. Part 2 will follow soon, where we’ll focus on foliage and ferns to complete the picture of how natives can really shine in your garden.
