Rye, in East Sussex, is one of England’s gems and best kept secrets. The town has streets with wonderful names like Watchbell Lane, Mermaid Street and Wish Street. Rye's ancient medieval streets are clustered around a sandstone hillside, overlooking the meandering River Rother and Romney Marsh. This relaxed, historic and picturesque little East Sussex town is a wonderful place for a peaceful holiday or weekend break.
In this video, we have captured some beautiful places in the town. You will be amazed to see the historical cobbled streets, medieval houses, lovely landscape all around.
Places to watch for: Historic Town Centre, Church of St Mary the Virgin, Lamb House, Mermaid Street, Seaside Harbor
Journey tips: Take the high speed train from London Kings Cross St Pancras station and change at Ashford International to take another South eastern train to Rye. Total travel is around 1 hr 20 mins.
