Nirvana - Live in London, Astoria, 24/10/1990

The second night of the U.K. Sliver tour. The band are back at the London Astoria, a venue they visited last back in December of 1989 at the very end of their grueling tour with Tad. This time, they are here with L7, and this is for the new LP they'll be releasing, Sliver.

You can see right away that the setlist is reversed. They've only done this a couple of times. This tour and their tour in Japan.

This is also the first major tour with their new drummer, Dave Grohl. Someone in the crowd mentions Dan Peters, but Krist jokes that Dan was hit by a car and couldn't make it. Dan Peters is the drummer for Mudhoney, who filled in for the band for one show on September 22nd, 1990 in Seattle before Dave joined. He also did backup work for Screaming Trees! He also played drums on the song Sliver. Funny how that works.

The setlist, while being backwards, features a great mix of old and new material. In Bloom and Lithium are played while Breed (under the working title Imodium) is also played, though it is much older than the other two. Covers like Molly's Lips and D-7 are here tonight as well. It's a great late-Bleach era setlist just as the Nevermind songs are starting to seep their way in.

This show uses two sources. The main source is AUD1 while a bit of downtime after Scoff and the intro to Molly's Lips is taken from AUD2. AUD2, while probably sounding a little better, is cut in many places. So I've used AUD1 as the base.

Nirvana will be in the U.K. for the rest of the week until the 29th, which is their last show of the tour in Norwich.
