Into the Driftless | Fly Fishing Our Home Waters

Did you miss us? We know it's been way too long since our last video, but...2020! Need we say more?

Is there any better place to ride out a pandemic than on a trout stream? In this video we let you in on our favorite, not-so-secret fishing spot: The dramatic and beautiful Driftless Area of southeastern Minnesota.

The Driftless Area is a remarkable geologic region covering more than 24,000 square miles in portions of four Midwestern states — Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois — that escaped the scouring effects of the glaciers in the last ice age. Today, the Driftless boasts one of the highest concentrations of spring creeks in the world, and... well, we don't want to give everything away.

We want to give a special thanks to two friends who contributed video to this episode: Jack Rendulich captured the amazing footage of the Amish horse-drawn carts just after sunrise one morning after we'd been shooting some fly-fishing video. It was a split-second chance and he captured it calmly and beautifully; and our friend Lance Prado, whose name we misspelled in the credits on the film -- and discovered our mistake too late to fix -- shot the terrific drift-boat footage on the Root River in autumn.
