High-speed trains are changing the way we travel, and some of them reach incredible speeds. Japan's L0 Series Maglev is the fastest train ever tested, reaching 603 km/h (375 mph). China’s CRRC Maglev 2.0 comes close with 600 km/h (373 mph). The fastest train in daily use is the Shanghai Maglev, running at 431 km/h (268 mph).
China also operates the Fuxing Hao at 350 km/h (217 mph), while France’s TGV POS once hit a record 574.8 km/h (357 mph) in a test. Italy’s Frecciarossa 1000 and Japan’s Shinkansen E5/E6 run around 320 km/h (199 mph). Germany’s ICE 3 and Spain’s AVE S-103 travel at speeds over 300 km/h (186 mph). South Korea’s KTX-Sancheon also joins the list with a top speed of 305 km/h (190 mph).
These trains are not just fast—they’re a glimpse into the future of safe, clean, and efficient travel.
