Ratko Dražević (1918–1992) was one of the more interesting figures in Yugoslavia of the 1960s and 1970s, surrounded by many controversies. A participant in the People’s Liberation Struggle (Narodno-oslobodilačka borba), an operative of the UDBA (Yugoslav secret service), he was also a film worker, and director of Avala Film in the period when that company flourished and when the most famous film names, both actors and directors, were coming to Belgrade.
He was also one of the first and greatest Serbian communist playboys. A man with an extraordinary biography, he described himself as someone who had killed 2,000 people and slept with the same number of women. In his political and amorous career, he was, however, best known as the man who took the greatest number of the beauties of that era to bed. There was hardly a local beauty whom this playboy‑UDBA man had not held in his arms, and one of the most famous among them was famous singer Olivera Katarina. It was said that a bed was not necessary for his affairs, and that he deflowered many girls on the desk in his office.
Major Dražević also left in his life “testament” other very interesting notes – about how he engaged in espionage, and how he engaged in smuggling jewelry, English fabrics, cigarettes… All, of course, for the benefit of the state.
