This Community Fishing is Jointly organised by Tsungiki village (Lotha)and Philimi Village ( Sumi) .
Community fishing is an integral part of Naga culture.
This practice doesn’t endanger any organisms in the river. It is simply a traditional practice using the roots or bark of Derris Elliptica which is crushed and washed in the water so that fishes will become unconscious momentarily and that’s how they catch Fish. It is rather done or enforced in order to save environment from getting diluted. We must appreciate & encourage people for practicing eco-friendly fishing style.
