VENICE, CA — Friday, January 23, 2026 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation was conducted Friday morning across multiple locations in Venice as the City of Los Angeles continued efforts to address sanitation, public safety, and accessibility in public spaces.
The operation took place along Third Street between Rose Avenue and Sunset Avenue, Rose Avenue between Third and Fourth streets, and Fourth Street between Rose and Sunset avenues.
The effort was led by the Department of Public Works in coordination with the Los Angeles Police Department, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (ECI), and a homeless coordinator from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office. Sanitation crews, outreach workers, hazardous-materials specialists, and law-enforcement officers worked through the corridor to remove debris and address encampment-related items.
Advance cleanup notices were posted in accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code §56.11, advising individuals in the area to temporarily vacate so sanitation work could proceed. Environmental Compliance Inspectors distributed 60-gallon bags and explained posted requirements. Individuals were observed gathering belongings and clearing work areas as crews began cleanup operations.
During the operation, ECI and Clean Harbors personnel identified, separated, and removed hazardous materials, including batteries and aerosols. Public Works crews collected trash, bulky items, and other debris from sidewalks, streets, and surrounding areas.
Staff from Councilwoman Park’s office assisted with inter-agency coordination, while outreach workers with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority engaged with individuals on scene, offering information about supportive housing options, mental-health services, and other available assistance.
No arrests or citations were reported.
Santa Monica Closeup continues to document public events of local significance across the Westside, including homelessness outreach, law-enforcement activity, and sanitation and cleanup operations.
