Welcome back to our Ghana building journey! In today’s video, we’re diving deep into how we constructed our hidden roof structure—from material estimates, to workmanship.
🔨 SECTION 1 — Materials Used for the Hidden Roof
To get our hidden roof installed, we started with a detailed material breakdown. Here’s what went into the construction:
We used 20 cubic sand, blocks, and iron rods, forming the main structural strength of the roof design.
The iron rods—40 pieces of 12mm—were key for reinforcement, while 120 pieces of quarry blocks supported the shape and weight distribution.
For binding and finishing, we used:
Binding wire,
Cement 32.5R and 42.5R,
Filler,
Chemicals,
And tile cement for the 4x4 non-polished tiles.
Woodwork was also a major part of the hidden roof. We used:
52 pieces of 2x2,
28 pieces of 2x3,
And 19 pieces of 2x6 wood.
These formed the framework for the ceiling noggins and the roof’s internal support. The roofing sheets—28 pieces—covered the hidden roof structure, with roof gutters, facial boards, and facial plates completing the external look.
All together, the materials alone came up to 26,949 Ghana cedis.
🧱 SECTION 2 — Workmanship Costs
For workmanship, here is the breakdown:
Mason Work:
Block laying
Concreting the roof and poly tank area
Screeding
Water for construction
Total: 5,030 Ghana cedis
Carpenter’s Workmanship:
Floor molding
Roofing ceiling noggins
Total: 5,200 Ghana cedis
Steel Bender:
Floor mate bending
Total: 800 Ghana cedis
Tiller’s Workmanship:
Tiling the facial floor
Total: 1,500 Ghana cedis
This workmanship ensured structural accuracy, alignment, and a quality finish for the hidden roof.
