Wyeing ATSF 3751 in San Bernardino HD

Watch in High Definition! Watch in High Definition! Here's my second video from the San Bernardino Railroad Days on April 27th and 28th, 2013. I had the privilege of being a crew member on the Tioga Pass Private Car, the ex. Canadian Pacific Business Car that made up the rear of the excursion train that accompanied the event. The excursion train was pulled by ATSF 3751, the ex. Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northern Steam Locomotive owned by the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society. Trailing it were Metrolink F59PH 873, Private Car Pony Express, an Amtrak Horizon Car, and Private Cars Acoma, Overland Trail, and Tioga Pass.

At some point during the excursion train's stay in San Bernardino, it would have to be turned for its return trip to Los Angeles. This turn took place early on Sunday morning, before the event opened for the day. I was up bright and early on the Tioga Pass to ride on the rear platform during the move and I was able to film a good portion of it. The move began just after 7 AM with the train backing out of P1 Metrolink Track at San Bernardino and through CP Vernon. To avoid tying up the BNSF mainlines, the move would stay off those tracks, using the Metrolink San Gabriel Subdivision flyover and the BNSF San Bernardino Wye to accomplish the turn. The train first backed over the flyover and passed through CP Rancho. The train then pulled forward onto the west leg of the BNSF Wye. Then, the train reversed again onto the east leg of the BNSF Wye, before proceeding onto the north leg of the BNSF Wye and pulling past CP Rancho again. The train finally made another reverse move across the flyover and back into San Bernardino Station. A westbound BNSF Stack train with DPU passed as we were arriving back in San Bernardino.

The move traversed the territories of multiple railroads, so 3751, Metrolink, and BNSF crews were all assisting in the move. The wyeing move was not open to the public, so this is a fairly rare video. I apologize for all the talking, but a couple fellow riders were getting a bit chatty.
