‘Saptasindhu’ Mahila Adhar, Balsangopan And Shikshan Sanstha, founded in 1998 by ‘Padmashri’ Dr. Sou. Sindhutai Sapakal (Maai), echoes her commitment to the poor and underprivileged. In the last 25 years, the institution has reintegrated the downtrodden into mainstream society. Maai’s legacy lives on through its transformative impact.

In October 2017, Maai founded the ‘Tirtharup Educational Residential Center,’ primarily for underprivileged children.operating under 'Saptasindhu' Mahila Adhar, Balsangopan And Shikshan Sanstha. Maai's daughter, Mamata Sindhutai Sapakal, now manages the responsibilities, continuing Maai's vision.

These circumstances might encompass factors such as family disruption, neglect or abandonment. The shelter aims to offer a secure environment where these children can access essential services, education, emotional support, and guidance while their long-term living arrangements are determined or rehabilitative efforts are undertaken. The shelter acts as a temporary haven, assisting these children in navigating their difficult situations and working towards more stable futures.

She has devoted her entire life for orphans. As a result she is fondly called 'Maai' . IMAGINE being a mother to over 1400 children, having 282 sons-in-law, 49 daughters-in-law and hundreds of grandchildren. Sindhutai Sapakal is known as the 'Mother of Orphans’ & was the matriarch of this large family.. She has nurtured over 1400 orphaned children. Maai is always trying to give a good standard of living to her children along with food, clothing, shelter, education and rehabilitation.
She would work wholeheartedly for orphans & destitute & other less fortunate. She poured out her motherly love & affection on orphans. She took them under her wings. She gave them food and shelter in whatever way she could.
