Guadalupe’s sweet smile marks the beginning of a life-changing journey to reach her full potential. Born with profound hearing loss, Guadalupe relied mostly on sign language and hearing aids to communicate. Today’s advanced cochlear implant technology and interventions allow children like Guadalupe to learn to recognize speech and develop language skills, starting as early as 12 months. It’ll take some time, but with the Nemours pediatric cochlear implant team by her side, Guadalupe will have the best chance to play, laugh and learn with friends.

PEDIATRIC COCHLEAR IMPLANT PROGRAM IN ORLANDO
The comprehensive cochlear implant team at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando work together from the first evaluation through surgery, and well beyond hearing sound for the first time.

The team includes board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat, or ENT doctors) and surgeons, doctorate-level pediatric audiologists, and a master-educated pediatric speech-language pathologist.
