Thousands Upon Thousands of Daruma Dolls at This Temple | Ollie Odyssey Japan Vol. 5

I had seen Yoko share photos of her time at Katsuoji, a temple with a distinct feature - daruma dolls. Daruma are these little good luck charms of various sizes, shaped in a cute, round shape.

This temple is a bit outside of Osaka and requires a bus transfer in Minoh. Right away, you're greeted by these small darumas laid out all over the temple grounds. Turns out, people are free to purchase these little darumas and place them wherever you wish. And when you walk around the beautiful and its surrounding nature, you're going realize the sheer amount of darumas. There are so, so many. I decided to buy some myself - one for the temple and the rest for my brother and cousins' kids. For the small daruma, there's a slip of paper inserted inside, where you can inquire about a specific aspect of one's life and the paper provides insight on it. I didn't know how to read it, so I just left it in there before perching my daruma on a high surface near the main front gate.

Another really cool part of this temple is the stamp paper you get upon entering. Throughout the temple area, you will come upon stamp stations, where you place the paper in the slot, give a good push of the stamp onto the paper, and see it fill out as you find more stations. I think there were a total of 6 of them and you can see the result at the end of the video. So pretty! And I believe they change the design if you ever you find yourself at Katsuoji, there's a good chance it'll look different from mine.
