One thing that grows very well in wet Irish climate is rush. It can be very invasive especially on land with poor drainage and considered a nuisance by most. We don't particularly like rush either, but we have recently started collecting it and drying as animal bedding, including deep bedding for our goats. as was traditionally done years ago. Best of all - it is free! Apart from your labour of course 😊
