In the late ‘90s I was hired on as lead man in a high end forging shop in Northern California. One of my responsibilities was maintaining a Nazel 2B hammer. The problem was, nobody seemed to know how it worked. So I took it apart, blueprinted it, and wrote a technical manual about it, so others with the same type of hammer could troubleshoot and service their own machines. Upon completion of that little book, to test myself, I built one. Completely from things other people had already thrown away, taken from local junkyards. That was 1999, this is not that hammer.
Last month a friend and I collaborated on this. Basically, I provided him with the air system components, documentation, scads of photos and a steady stream of information, guidance, advice, and laughs. He built this hammer himself in about two and a half weeks.
