Goodbye, Trix

This chicken loss was a hard one. Trix was one of the most special Roos I’ve ever come across. He touched all of our hearts so much that I was willing to pay a lot of money to fix his leg…and I did. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it through surgery. They lost his heart beat after he threw a blood clot. They tried everything but he just didn’t pull through. I was prepared to give him everything to make sure his life was a good one and I’m so sad he’ll never get the chance to crow or forage.

My boys and I buried him near the coop under a hydrangea bush. We cried. We talked about how his body is going back to the earth and how we’ll get to see the flowers bloom for him. We talked about how he’s no longer in pain and he has two working legs and happy.
