The Last Samurai visits Aekuni shrine in Iga city, Mie prefecture and introduces Kurondo Matsuri, Iga Ninja festival held on November 23rd.
Iga city is the homeland of Iga Ninja. And Aekuni shrine is the gurdian deity of Hattori family, famous Ninja family. This festival came to an end in the 16th century by the attack of Oda Nobunaga but it was revived after 450 years in 1995. You can see the Shinto ritual and the martial arts of Iga Ninja at this festival.
