HMV record player back again! Amplifier re-work and turntable overhaul.

Yes, it's back! I had a hard time getting this cute late 1950's record player to work the first time around. It was a bit of a mess and the output valve was missing. There was no model identification and I had no clue as to what the missing valve was.
I eventually identified it as a chassis model C1. The missing output valve was a 6AB8 (equivalent to an ECL80). I couldn't get one of those so I substituted a 6GV8, another triode / pentode, and went to a lot of trouble trying to get it to go. Just as I was finishing it, I saw the correct 6AB8 for sale, and bought it. It took a long time to get here though and by the time it arrived I had sold the record player.
Three months later the buyer brought it back. Her complaint was that the turntable was running slow. She said that her son, for whom she bought it, had perfect pitch and couldn't handle the turntable running a little slow.
Unable to fix it on the spot, I gave her her money back.
It sat in a dusty corner of the shed for another few months until now...
The trouble is I don't think it's much better than when I started.
