I shall explain the maze here:
You are presented with 3 options in each room that done change.
Shield, Speed shoes, and Eggman. In the first room all paths lead forward and its up to you to decide the best course of action.
The shield routes involve slow blocky platforming that dont allow you to go very fast and also has alot of badniks, however they also have alot of rings and shields, your reward for choosing this path is any of the elemental shields
The speed shoe routes will present you with momentum based platforming challenges and gives you speed shoes, this route is likely the fastest of the 3 but failing to perform could be slower than both other routes, you are also given some rings upon completion.
The Eggman routes have you facing a miniboss, how long this path is depends entirely on your ability to beat it, you will be rewarded with an extra life for your troubles.

The following 3 rooms only have one correct pathway, there are monitors in the ground that give a hint as to what pathway is the correct one. The 3 pathways always follow the same rules as described above but the incorrect paths are made as time wasters for the reward and the correct paths are built more like an actual level.
