From a Small Plant to a Gigantic Elephant Ear Plant | Watch Leucocasia Gigantea Grow Large Leaves

The Leucocasia Gigantea is one of the most amazing plants because of its tremendous growth rate. It grows from a small plant to a gigantic plant in only a few months in my tropical garden in California. It was known as the Colocasia Gigantea until ti was reclassified as the Leucocasia Gigantea in recent years.

Last season, I left the Leucocasia Gigantea outdoors during the winter months. It lost all its leaves and was basically only a stalk after the winter cold destroyed it. It reemerged in the spring and grew great during the warm months.

As winter approached, I decided to dig it up and put it in a pot for the winter and store it in my greenhouse. It kept growing, but put out smaller leaves. But it was still alive. After five months in the greenhouse, it is now spring and time for me to plant it in my garden. I hope it grows even bigger this summer!
