Albert Lea approves two of three cannabis businesses

Two micro retail recreational cannabis owners gained approval in Albert Lea on Monday. The city council approved two of the three owners on Monday, in line with the city manager’s recommendation.

Minnesota’s first licensed micro-retail business owner, Jacob Schlichter, did not receive city council’s approval. In 2017, Schlichter was convicted of a misdemeanor involving consensual sex with a minor as council members rejected Schlichter’s bid for a second time.
