The final episode from my visit and my weekend on the Midland Main Line. Derby has been an important railway centre since 1840 when the Midland Counties, Birmingham & Derby and North Midland established a joint station at the point where their three lines met. They merged and Derby became the headquarters of the newly formed Midland Railway. Still a major hub on routes from the north, east, west and south west as well as the main line from Sheffield to St Pancras.
