Why Metals Act like Mirrors for Charges: the Method of Images the Intuitive Way. In this video, an intuitive explanation for the classical case of the method of images is introduced. Most textbooks (at least all the ones I have seen) introduce the method of images with the uniqueness theorem. However, there's a much simpler explanation--at least for this simple case--which is presented here. I remember when I first heard about image charges I was so confused because it just seemed like magic, so I think a more "hands-on" approach is quite helpful for those seeing it for the first time.
For more detail on the method of images, see any standard E&M textbook--Griffiths and Purcell both have great sections on it.

The trick I use in this video (superposition) is one that I use a lot in my other physics olympiad videos and is pretty useful, so it's a nice idea idea to remember for those preparing for olympiads.
