Dog-Sled Caribou-Hunting Trip! (episode 34)

While I hadn't expected to be able to take video on this hunting trip, I also hadn't expected Robbin to be my hunting partner this year! As BJ stayed here in Fairbanks to help with Covid-19, Robbin took his place on the trip and was able to take a bunch of good footage. He lent us his great tent, and he got some caribou to thank him for staying in Fairbanks and doing his important work.

The dogs all did amazing. Everything worked out better than we could have hoped. After a couple days or low clouds, snow, and wind, the weather turned amazing. We saw wolves, ptarmigan, Dall sheep, a couple Golden eagles, and lots of caribou. We heard of a bear encounter from another hunter, but thankfully, never saw him or his tracks ourselves. We ran into a few other hunter-mushers out there, and while I wish we could have chatted a bit more than we did, all of us were careful not to get too close. Looking forward to being able to chat with new friends over beer again! One day!

Robbin also did amazing. She was a great partner, but I don't think I'll ever turn her into a hunter.

Summer is here. I don't know what sort of video I'll post next, or when, but I have a feeling that there's another video in the future....
