Pakistan continues to follow a consistent policy regarding Afghan refugees. However, Zalmai Khalilzad and a political analyst from Afghanistan have accused Pakistan of allegedly sending individuals disguised as refugees to create unrest in Afghanistan. Pakistan has strongly denied these allegations, stating that the United Nations, the US, and China have acknowledged the presence of peace-disrupting elements in Afghanistan, which are a threat to the region and the world — a stance Pakistan also shares.

Reports suggest that around 35,000 Afghan nationals have returned to their country so far.
On the other hand, news sources claim that the PTI-led government in Pakistan seems to be at odds with the federal policy on Afghan refugees, which has caused delays in the repatriation process.
