Is ELBURG the BEST Hidden Gem in The Netherlands?

We are always searching for the best "hidden gems" when we travel. Living in The Netherlands, there are so many cute villages that are waiting to be discovered, and we think Elburg might be the best we have seen!

Elburg, in the Gelderland province of The Netherlands, is only about an hour from Amsterdam, but it really couldn't be more different. The medieval center is surrounded by a moat and a fortress wall (some of it is still there), and is dripping in small town charm. We have a typical Dutch lunch at a nice cafe, meet a rooster and TRY to climb a tall tower.

What a great day trip from Amsterdam!

After we toured around Elburg, we crossed into the province of Flevoland, (5 minutes away), to check out a very impressive, and strange work of art. Be sure to watch to the end to see it!
