You may wonder where the title Southern Swells comes from. The reason for this is that it was filmed in the southern area of Africa. This film features Jordy Maree, who is a Cape Town charger, as well as a good friend of mine who's known for getting some of the best barrels from Skeleton Bay ever as well as in Africa, and there is Brendon Gibbons, an internationally acclaimed surfer who is known for his barrel riding as well as airs. There is also Max Elkington, a young surfer from Cape Town who is known for charging waves.
The motive for this film was to document a month of surfing with Jordy Maree and apply a traditional view to create this film.
