Matt Murdock was born around 1972[2] and raised in Hell's Kitchen in New York City by his father, boxer Jack Murdock. In 1984, Jack's criminal activities led to Matt stumbling across one of his business deals, and being blinded by radioactive chemicals when he tried to run away through a warehouse facility. The radiation also drastically heightened his remaining senses and gave him a radar-sense that allowed him to perceive his surroundings.

His father is killed not long after this moment, he vows to seek justice by any means. At night, Murdock became Daredevil, and took justice into his hands. Throughout his adult life, Murdock dealt with the moral implications of being a vigilante, and tried to prove that he was not a villain. He dealt with the case of the murder of Lisa Tazio, which was done by Wesley Welch rather than Dante Jackson. His decision to spare Kingpin was a means of proving the latter to himself, on the grounds that a villain would have killed his opponent. After the battle, Murdock found a good luck charm that was similar to the one Elektra showed him, suggesting that she was still alive. Later that night, Murdock was seen outside Ben Urich's workplace. After he saw him, Urich realized that a man like Daredevil was needed, deciding at the last moment to delete the article he had composed, and even encouraging Murdock to carry on with his fight.[1]

Sometime later in life both Matt and Elektra were both taken by the TVA for unknown reasons, they would ultimately prune both of them and send them to the Void. When they were in the Void they found other heroes who were also there building a Resistance against the malevolent ruler of the Void, Cassandra Nova. On one of these occasions when the team were trying to stop her, Matt ultimately died in the process of trying to defend her.[3]

Francis David "Frank" Castle is a former United States Marine-turned-violent vigilante. While serving in Afghanistan alongside with Billy Russo, where the duo became close friends, Castle and Russo joined the black-ops team, Cerberus Squad under the command of CIA Officer William Rawlins aimed at capturing, interrogating, and executing high-value targets. Fearing he was slowly losing his honor, Castle returned to his family, only to lose them all during a brutal shooting. Castle became the Punisher, as he aimed to clean up New York City of all crime by any means necessary. While seeking to avenge his own family's deaths, Castle also came in conflict with Daredevil. Castle was soon arrested and, despite the efforts of Nelson and Murdock, was sentenced to life in prison.

Abandoning his identity, Castle attempted to live the quiet life, under the name Peter "Pete" Castiglione, but he was found by Micro who revealed to him that more people had been involved in his family's death, and they were involved in the illegal Operation Cerberus he had performed in Afghanistan. While hunting down all of those involved, Castle then came back in contact and reunited with his best friend Billy Russo, who he eventually learned was working with William Rawlins to try to assassinate Castle. Having discovered the truth, Castle then allowed himself to be captured by Russo and Rawlins, until he eventually killed Rawlins and, in a brutal showdown, managed to disfigure Russo's face beyond repair. With Rawlins' crimes exposed, Castle was then finally allowed to regain freedom by the CIA and looked to begin a new peaceful life for himself.

Daredevil: Born Again is an American television series created by Dario Scardapane and Matt Corman & Chris Ord for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Daredevil. It is the 13th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, via its Marvel Television label, sharing continuity with the films and television series of the franchise. Born Again is a revival and continuation of Daredevil (2015–2018), an earlier series produced by the previous Marvel Television production company and originally released on Netflix. Scardapane serves as showrunner with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as lead directors.
