積善館が四万温泉で旅籠を始めたのは、江戸時代元禄七年(1694)。本館の建物は元禄4年(1691)に建てられたもだそうです。現在も利用されていて湯宿建築としては日本最古。新湯川にかかる赤い慶雲橋と歴史が感じられる木造の建物は、映画「千と千尋の神隠し」に出てくる油屋を彷彿させ、事実モデルのひとつだという。
この積善館とその周辺を散歩してきました。この日、夜の撮影と思っていましたが運が悪く全館休館と言うことで夜の撮影は諦めました。
Sekizenkan started operating as an inn in Shima Onsen in 1694 during the Edo period. The main building was constructed in 1691. It is still in use today and is the oldest hot spring inn in Japan. The red Keiun Bridge over the Shinyukawa River and the wooden building that exudes history are reminiscent of the bathhouse in the movie Spirited Away, and are said to be one of the models for the building.
I took a walk around Sekizenkan and its surrounding area. I had planned to take photos at night on this day, but unfortunately the entire building was closed, so I gave up on the idea of taking photos at night.
