First Step: Hold your stick as if you were holding a pencil, but don't hold it from the end, hold it from the middle. Your stick will be in the middle of your index and middle finger and from the top, your thumb and index should look like you are pinching it.
Second Step: Slowly lift your thumb from on top and open up your hand. At this point, the back of your hand should be facing you.
Third Step: Now using your ring finger push the stick inwards and catch the stick immediately.
Remember your stick starts horizontal, when you open up your hand your stick is still horizontal, and when you catch the stick it becomes vertical.
