1. Chitta: This is a colloquial term used in South Asia, particularly in India and Pakistan, to refer to a highly refined form of heroin. It is known for its high potency and dangerous potential for addiction and overdose.
2. Heroin: An illegal opioid drug made from morphine, a natural substance extracted from the seed pod of various opium poppy plants. It is typically sold as a white or brown powder or as a black sticky substance known as "black tar heroin." Heroin is highly addictive and can be injected, snorted, or smoked.
3. Brown Sugar: Another street name for heroin, particularly in its less refined, brownish form. This term is often used interchangeably with other names for heroin but specifically refers to the brown-colored variety which contains impurities.
4. Morphine: A powerful painkiller derived from opium. It is used medically to treat severe pain but has a high potential for addiction and abuse. Morphine is the precursor to heroin, as heroin is chemically processed from morphine.
5. Opium: A naturally occurring substance obtained from the latex of the opium poppy plant. It contains several alkaloids, including morphine and codeine, which have pain-relieving properties. Opium has been used for centuries for its medicinal and recreational properties, but it is highly addictive.
These substances vary in their forms and potency but are all related through their origins in the opium poppy plant and their potential for addiction and abuse.
Pakistan is smuggling these drugs towards Indian side of the border and from it is finding way towards North India, including Himachal.
