I started fast and furious, moved up to the front of the race in no time. Started the gravel at 6K in a top-10 position so that far everything went well and smooth.
Until suddenly at the 2nd climb (16%) everything blocked and I had to crawl uphill, this was unexpected and demotivating.
I lost 90 spots in 10 minutes.
I tried to get a grip of myself again and decided to give what I had and just try to enjoy the race.
I guess I died and have risen again like 10 times.
At the end I squeezed out a 102nd spot on 261 participants.
Not that bad (knowing they all had qualified to be there) but no where near my own ambitions and expectations (top-50 at least).
In the end I was glad that I was there on the 🌈 for the 3th time in a row.
When writing this overview I’m suffering from a viral infection started on Sunday, so the question is if that already played a part on Saturday ?!? (Although I’m not looking for any excuses)
