In today’s video, we’re cooking Korean-style oxtail — a rich, flavourful comfort dish that’s perfect for cozy days.
Join us as we take you along for grocery shopping in Belgium, enjoy a little gaming session, and spend time with our cute chihuahuas.
Ingredients: Oxtail (~600 g), Onion (1 large), Garlic (1 handful), Spring onion (or leek), Bay leaf (3–4 leaves), Peppercorn (1 Tbsp), Mirin 4 Tbsp (or vodka), Mushrooms (3–5), Soy sauce (4 Tbsp), Chili pepper flakes (1 tsp), Vinegar (1 Tbsp)
The recipe:
1. Soak the oxtail in cold water (2 hours) to draw out the blood.
2. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the oxtail with bay leaves, peppercorns, and Vodka, let it bubble hard (5 min), then discard the water. Rinse the oxtail under cold water.
3. Place the chopped onion under the oxtail in the ricecooker and add 1 cup of water to partially submerge it. Add garlic, mushroom and spring onion. Boil it for about 2 hours in porridge mode (cooking time depends on the power of the ricecooker to be tender enough)
4. Mix soy sauce, chili flakes, and vinegar to create a seasoning sauce, then add the 3 big spoons of cooking liquids to the sauce mixture drizzle on top of the oxtail before serving.
