Lucas Chumbo's Epic Ride at NAZARE - Incredible BIG WAVE SURFING

This was undoubtedly one of the greatest and most perfect days in recent years at Nazare. As you can see in this footage, the waves were over 15 meters high, with a swell perfectly aligned with the sandbanks, moving in the right direction. To top it off, we had a radiant sun, ideal for capturing stunning images.

A set of waves approached, and Lucas Chumbo didn't hesitate to ask his pilot, El Alemao de Maresias, to place him on the next wave. Without hesitation, they headed to the perfect spot to ride that massive wall of water rising higher and higher over the Praia do Norte sandbanks. El Alemao, as usual, positioned him perfectly, and Lucas began to glide down the water mountain.

However, as with all elements of nature, it was unpredictable. A small water step appeared in front of him, causing him to jump and make a gap of more than 3 meters. If we pause the video at the moment he touches the water again and compare his height, approximately 1.80 meters, against the mark he left behind without touching the water, we can see that this mark exceeds twice his height, being over 3 meters long.

Nazare and its giant waves bring different adventures every day. Nature is constantly changing, and no matter how much we study and know it, we can never predict exactly what it holds for us. This is why Nazare is and always will be such a mysterious and dangerous place. Even with experienced surfers like Lucas Chumbo and pilots like Alemao de Maresias, we can never be sure that things will happen as planned.

Once again, Lucas leaves us speechless, not by deliberately doing something incredible but by staying calm and adapting to what nature put in front of him. Imagine how difficult it is to stay on your feet on land after a jump of more than 3 meters. Now imagine what it must be like to stay on your feet after a jump of over 3 meters, going more than 70 kilometers per hour downhill, with tons of water behind you, chasing and pressuring you not to make a mistake.
