This Bangkok Floating Market Isn’t for Tourists

Just outside Bangkok’s high-rise chaos, a different kind of life still floats.
In this episode of 'Life Beyond Borders', I visit Khlong Lat Mayom, one of Thailand’s authentic floating markets — not a massively touristy version, but a real working community where people live, sell food, and grow old on the canals. I meet women who’ve spent decades selling food from wooden boats, ride in a longtail boat with one of the area’s oldest working boatmen, and visit his canal-side home, which doubles as a floating grocery shop and boat repair station.

These are the stories you don’t get on city tours. They're not curated or staged — just the real, working lives of people who’ve built a community around the water. For those curious about Thai culture beyond the surface, this is a window into that world.
