DESCRIPTION:
Jackpot is a decent lower mountain run on Aspen Mountain. You can get here by taking the legendary Gentlemen's Ridge and traversing down a bit. Before I visited Ajax, I'd heard some good things about the lower mountain glades. However, on the day of recording, conditions were very subpar. It was too early into the season to have a decent run in this zone so while conditions were decent, the run was overall disappointing. It wasn't particularly challenging and the terrain was honestly not as cool as it looked on websites. I'm sure this run is exponentially more fun on a powder and I'd love to come back some day to reattempt it when conditions are prime. Although, I feel like this run is always going to be doomed to have less than ideal conditions at least when compared to the rest of the mountain due to it's relatively low elevation. In terms of difficulty, this is one of the easiest double black diamonds on the mountain and in my opinion, is perfectly suitable for advanced skiers. Overall, Jackpot was okay, but a waste of a run when compared to how great the terrain in The Dumps and Hero's was skiing.
