What does balance really mean in the entertainment industry?

On the eve of World Mental Health Day, Deepika Padukone joins Mehak Kasbekar for a deeply honest conversation on mental health, the mission of the Live Love Laugh Foundation as it turns 10, and why the work that the foundation does at the grass root level is the need of the hour.

When asked whether demanding fair working hours as a woman makes her “too difficult,” Deepika responds candidly:

‘I don’t think what I’m asking for is ridiculously unfair… If I may say so myself, as a top star, you can only imagine what the working conditions must be like for everyone else — for the crew, for example.

There are male actors who’ve been working eight-hour shifts for years, and it’s never made headlines. What I’m advocating for is simply a better work-life balance and healthier working conditions. If that doesn’t work for somebody, we’re not obligated to work together.’

This conversation is a powerful reminder that mental health is not optional — it’s essential.
