Evan Marien has always produced some great tracks; drumless or not. I encourage all to download his tracks from Bandcamp - oodles of material to play drums to. Appropriately named, this track 'Decisions' from the EMAR, Vol. 1 Album (2017) deciding whether to groove the thing out OR go all out with chops galore did miff me leading up to recording it today. Further proof of how cool Evan's tracks are, you can truly put your own spin and interpretation to his music. I especially love the dynamics and shifts of energy the track entails. Once thing is for certain, I dug deep into my bag of influences, channelling my drum heroes to allow me to 'think outside' off my comfort zone. I made sure I didn't just go the meat and potatoes route with this one. Specially made easy thanks to binge watching some Anika Nilles, Vinnie Colaiuta and Gergo Borlai videos of late and on constant rotation. This was fun to record...for shizzle!
