Sims 1
In The Sims: Makin' Magic, a PlantSim look is available as a temporary cosmetic change, using the "Beauty or Beast" charm.

Sims 2
In The Sims 2, PlantSims were added with The Sims 2: Seasons as a special supernatural life state with the overuse of pesticides. All PlantSims have green skin tone, default hairstyle and clothing, PlantSims have only three needs: Sunlight, Water and Love. PlantSims can grow their own PlantBaby that is actually a toddler. Toddlers are the first of three PlantSim life stages. PlantSims can be cured by drinking the Plantophic-C potion. You can buy it from a Matchmaker and NPC Garden Club members, a Witch can also make one.

Sims 3
In The Sims 3, PlantSims returned with The Sims 3: University. Normal Sims who are teens or older can become PlantSims by eating a Forbidden Fruit. This Fruit can be obtained by planting a Forbidden Fruit seed. When Sims eat the Forbidden Fruit, they'll get a "Botanitis Minorous" moodlet, which will last 4 hours. If you don't remove it in that time, the Sim will become a PlantSim. PlantSims no longer have a hunger or a bladder motive. Their hygiene motive is replaced with water. PlantSims can also photosynthesize during the day and is the most efficient way to boost water and energy. Picking a fully grown Forbidden Fruit has a 50% chance of producing a PlantSim baby. PlantSims have all life stages as regular Sims. PlantSims can be cured by creating "Super Spice" with the Science Research Station. With The Sims 3: Supernatural, the Potent Cure Elixir will also cure the PlantSim. PlantSims can be cured at the Science Facility for §3,000.

Sims 4
In The Sims 4, PlantSims are a temporary life state that has been mostly expanded by The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature. To become a PlantSim, you'll need to eat The Forbidden Fruit. This Fruit can be obtained by collecting all 6 Magic Beans and placing them the Magical PlantSim Stump and then water the tree. Their needs are similar to normal Sims, except for water and hunger. PlantSims can only satisfy their hunger through sunlight, but if their water need gets too low, they won't be able to photosynthesize. With Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature, PlantSims have the Nature's Breath ability that requires 5 fairy dust. PlantSims can also Poison Kiss another Sim, giving them the Green Meanie Ailment. PlantSims in The Sims 4, can't produce PlantBabies. You can prolong their lifestage with 20 fairy dust, or by eating a Forbidden Fruit. But if you don't take care of their needs, PlantSims can Die and their ghost will also be a PlantSim.
