The Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link[13] is an international cross-border rapid transit system that will connect Malaysia's second largest city, Johor Bahru and Woodlands, Singapore, crossing the Strait of Johor.[14] It will consist of two stations, with the Malaysian terminus at Bukit Chagar station and the Singaporean terminus at Woodlands North station, which also interchanges with Singapore's Thomson–East Coast MRT line.[13] The RTS Link will be the first LRT system in Malaysia outside Klang Valley.
Both stations will consist of their own customs, immigration and quarantine facilities of both countries, which will co-locate both countries’ immigration together.[15] It is envisioned that the immigration clearance of both countries would be done seamlessly in the same building, before boarding the train.[16] Both CIQs at Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North will be independent from the existing facilities at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Woodlands Checkpoint.[17]
When built, the RTS Link will be the second rail link between the two countries after the KTM Intercity's Shuttle Tebrau, between JB Sentral and Woodlands Train Checkpoint.[18] However, the RTS Link is expected to replace this shuttle once it is completed.[19]
