The lied on @mchammer.
The media always twists shit to deliver a narrative that is a half-truth.
Did hammer go bankrupt?
Yes.
Could he have been better with his money?
Yes.
Did the media factor in the sociopolitical causes of the guilt he felt being a successful black man from Oakland?
No.
Why not?
Because that doesn’t sell.
Why doesn’t that sell?
Because they have trained us to gravitate towards the salacious negative.
As opposed to the problems that they caused and we want to fix.
This is a big deal.
You have to control your narrative.
You have to speak the truth.
They want us to remain silent.
Masking it with “humility”.
That’s horseshit.
Black people, specifically black men don’t get the luxury of being humble and still being respected at the level they deserve.
Someone is always trying us.
Lying on us.
Trying to tear us down.
Fuck that.
Not on my watch.
Speak your truths and let people know.
Let people know who you’re helping.
Let people know your truth.
Because if you don’t, they’ll assume and make up their own lies about you.
And those lies will eventually be your legacy.
