This film adaptation of the eponymous tale by Maurice Maeterlinck became the first joint Soviet-American film.
The blue bird is the personification of happiness, far and near, which every person has, but you need to be able to recognize it. The woodcutter's children, Tiltil and Mitil, found themselves in a wonderful land in a dream, which the fairy Light showed them. All the pets, all the products there come to life, turn into real people. They help the children to complete the fairy's task - to find the Blue Bird. But she turns out to be completely different from what the brother and sister imagined her to be in their dreams.
