I took a TAMIYA Grasshopper RC to the Dragstrip! The FASTEST Grasshopper in Aus.

Run 7 and my last of the Poor Boys RC Speed Run Challenge 2025 in the bag and my fastest speed yet. All the work came together. ‪@Chuckyshobbies‬

Is my brushed Tamiya Grasshopper the fastest in Australia? I think so, so I'm going to claim it. The goal was 100Km/h and I got so close, but I am not disappointed with 97.5Km/h (60.6Mph).

Specs & Parts - Run 7:

• My Original Hornet from 2015

Front Suspension
• Original Hornet
• Springs with 2 links cut off them
• With Tamiya 5mm V parts suspension spacer on top

Front Arms
• Original kit
• With small M3 x 1mm alloy spacer at front to minimise slop

Steering Knuckles
• Original kit
• Shimmed with standard Tamiya M3 washer and a 0.2mm M3 shim

Steering System
• Tamiya 5mm ball nut with M2 thread (from Lunchbox) on steering knuckle
• Tamiya 5mm Ball nut with M3 thread on servo saver.
• M3 Secraft Duralumin turnbuckles, 34mm and 60mm
• Servo Saver Kimbrough #200 mid size
• Servo – SPT 4412LV low profile

Chassis & Bumper
• Original Kit

Rear Gearbox & Motor
• Original Hornet
• Grasshopper 2 gears and axles
• 12mm aluminium hex conversion, Option One
• 21T steel pinion
• RC Aidong adjustable motor mount
• Mounted to chassis with Hot Racing 10mm aluminium extenders
• Motor – LRP 10T v10 Spec 6, motor timing on 6

Rear Suspension
• Tamiya Mini Shock II mounted upside down
• Top mounted with the original grasshopper mounts
• Bottom mount is the Grasshopper 2

Rear Wheels & Tyres
• Team Associated DR10 drag rims
• Proline Reaction belted drag tires, 2.2”/3.0”, Glued

Hardware & Stuff
• M3 stainless steel hex throughout (except gearbox)
• Ceramic bearings in wheels and gearbox are from Plaig

Electronics
• ESC - Hobbywing 1080
• Receiver – FlySky FS-GR3E
• Remote – FlySky FS-GT3C

Miscellaneous
• ESC motor wires soldered directly to the motor
• Battery Bullets soldered directly to the ESC power wires
• Lipo battery charged immediately before run and in between runs
• Stickers on the body are all the shops I bought spares and parts from
