This clip (part 2 of 2 from the National Railway Museum at Port Adelaide in South Australia) shows former South Australian Railways/ Australian National Railways 800 class English Electric diesel locomotive 801 doing some light engine running and then shunting both 4 wheel freight wagon and bogie freight wagon sets back into the museum compound. 29-6-2013.
As part of there 50th anniversary celebrations the National Railway Museum at Port Adelaide in South Australia held a special event on Saturday June 29th, 2013, to celebrate the former South Australian Railways/ Australian National Railways 800 class English Electric diesel locomotives. 801 owned by the museum shunted and hauled demonstration period freight trains as well as a re-enactment Islington Workers Train using Centenary Baggage Carriage 376 and brakevan 4074.
These 800 class locomotives spent a majority of there working life in Port Adelaide and 801 looks quite at home here pottering around the yard in an original South Australian Railways livery. A book by Steve McNicol titled 800 Class Profile was also launched at this event (and is a great read, well worth purchasing from Railmac Publications).
