Prime Minister Modi initially was going to Maldives as his chosen destination for his first visit on June 7-8. As per media reports, he will stop over in Colombo as a mark of solidarity with the nation that witnessed the biggest ISIS attack on Easter Sunday. The Prime Minister will pay an official visit to Sri Lanka after completing his bilateral engagements in the Maldives early in June. Srisena said it will be a great honour for his government and people of the island nation to receive PM Modi as it will further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries particularly in areas of trade and commerce.
