Sudbury, Ontario - Asteroid That Deposited Huge Amounts Of Nickel & Precious Minerals

Sudbury is the site of a huge Meteorite impact over one billion years old. A large impact crater was formed, and it deposited a massive array of precious metal such as nickel, gold, copper, and more. These minerals are vital to the manufacturing and fabrication of many things we use all over the world in many industries.

Mining and smelting are key aspects to the economy of Ontario. There is a huge nickel deposit in Sudbury that is processed for many different functions. Sudbury has a long history of mining and has mines located all over the region. These mines are extracting many types of rare earth metals that are essential to computers, automobiles, and other products.

We explore Sudbury and take a look at Dynamic Earth museum. There is much to learn here about the geology of the region and how the Sudbury impact crater came to be. This is a very old region, rocks here are over one billion years old. Many projects are taking place deep within the earth from mining to astronomy. It is an amazing city with a colourfull history.
