My recipe for my delicious minced beef and onion pasties.
I must apologise for the glitches in the sound in this video, there was a problem with my mic which I did not discover until inserting the footage into the editing suite. So I have jiggled about with the audio the best I could. I hope it doesn't spoil your viewing. So, now I'm off to buy a new mic.
Recipe for the pasties.
Ingredients for the filling
• 1 onion, finely chopped chopped
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 500g lean beef mince
• 2 tbsp tomato purée
• 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 350ml beef stock
• 2 small carrots finely chopped
• 2 small potatoes finely chopped
• Salt
• Black pepper
• 2 tbsp plain flower
• 1 tsp garlic granules
• Ready rolled puff pastry
• 1 beef stock pot or cube to make 300 ml of stock
Making the filling
Fry the onion, in the oil in a large frying pan until softened.
Add the mince and garlic, increase heat and cook for 5 mins or until well browned.
Stir in the tomato purée and tomato ketchup Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper and flour and then add the stock.
Add the vegetables and leave to bubble gently for 30 minutes or until liquid has reduced and then leave to cool for 20 mins.
Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.
Cut the pastry into circles, add just enough filling for the pasty and brush the edges with egg wash then fold so that the edges meet.
Place on to a baking tray on the middle shelf of a pre heated oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes
Serve with vegetables or salad of your choice.
